Sometimes in life you do things you aren’t proud of. Like that period I visited Chick-Fil-A and purchased their poultry nuggets because I was starving. At the moment little poultry nuggets (bites of childhood happiness) dipped in BBQ sauce sounded absolutely tremendous. Just what a mistake that was! The chicken nuggets were coated in a absurd amount grease (I literally had butterfingers) and the breading wasn’t crispy, but instead soggy. The complete meal just tasted like hydrogenated oils. I sensed like I was committing a crime against my center.
BUT without a doubt something a lot more disturbing: I ate them anyway.
Ew… I know. Perhaps since it was one of those days where I was really hungry, pressured, and greasy chicken breast nuggets seemed to rationalize hating my work. All I wanted was just a little bite of ease and comfort… but even loading (literally finish) them with sauce didn’t offer that. They still tasted like lard. After all, not that I know what lard preferences like or anything, nevertheless, you get the point.
Nevertheless that day got me considering how easy it really is to roll through the drive through, sometimes just for that comfort meal… or for that childhood moment! But more than likely because your child can be chanting and/or crying they are hungry, and oh appear (!) you see a junk food joint and well, probably you’re kinda hungry too… and that means you order a burger and fries. Now your kid is happy but you feel guilty. It’s happened certainly to me, and I’m not a parent. Occasionally you can surrender to what’s easy.
I won’t lie, sometimes I really crave a small fry from McDonald’s. BUT I realize that they aren’t even that great (sodium overload) which quite frankly, I possibly could most likely cook something better tasting and better for me at home. And you can do it as well! In thirty minutes! Just supply the child an apple to tie them over.
Soooo what do you think? Wanna make some crunchy chicken tenders beside me or what?
Great! Let’s get started.
While rummaging through the pantry, I found a container of Honey Bunches of Oats, and starting thinking to myself that they might be incredible on chicken; they’re sugary, crunchy and have a somewhat nutty flavor in the almonds. Basically they’re honey cornflakes! And who doesn’t wish to place cereal on everything around the corner? My thoughts exactly.
I knew I wanted my poultry tenders to become extremely damp because I really despise dry flavorless chicken. So, I marinated my chicken in nonfat simple greek yogurt and honey. If you wish to make these honey mustard flavored all you need to do is all just a little dijon mustard for your marinade.
Finally, I placed several cups of the cereal into a ziploc bag, crushed them into tiny flakes, then placed my chicken in the bag and shook to coat. All I put to accomplish was bake them until crispy and golden brown. See? Look at those perfectly adorable little tenders.
Mmmmmmm tasty crunchy chicken tenders that don’t produce me want to die. That is a miracle! You don’t understand how amazing it felt to not possess a cup of grease on my fingers after consuming these (Chick-Fil-A please take notice).
BUT seriously I cannot tell you how mega good they are. The honey cornflake exterior is normally complimented using a slightly nutty crunch, as well as the chicken stays incredibly moist. I would recommend dipping them in my homemade honey mustard sauce
Let me understand in the event that you or your kids approve in so far as i do.
4 boneless, skinless poultry chest, cut into vertical strips
2 cups plain nonfat greek yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon ocean salt
2 1/2 cups of Honey Bunches of Oats (either with almonds or honey roasted) cereal, crushed
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Rinse your poultry breasts whitening strips and pat dry with a paper towel; reserve. Add greek yogurt, honey, salt, and dijon mustard (if desired) to a large bowl. Place poultry into bowl and toss to coat each in yogurt, cover with plastic cover and place in fridge for 20 minutes.
Next, place 1/2 of the crushed cereal within a zip loc bag and add 1/2 from the yogurt covered poultry to the handbag, shaking to layer. Remove and place on large greased baking sheet then repeat with second half of the cereal and poultry.
Spray the chicken with cooking spray and bake for 20-25 a few minutes or until chicken is thoroughly cooked.
Baking time will depend on what size or thick your chicken tenders are. Examine after 20 minutes for small tenders. These may also be made into chicken nuggets, just cut chicken into smaller cube like items before marinating.
